WATERFORD Dorothy M. Purcell, 87, of Middletown Rd. died Saturday January 20, 2018 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Born in Irvington, NJ she was the daughter of the late John and Marion Pemberten Horton. She was educated in Troy schools.

Dorothy had been employed at the former Bendix Co. in Green Island for 16 years, retiring in 1981. She also operated Dorothy’s Bridals until 1991. She was a communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Waterford and a Eucharist Minister there. She was a member of the Halfmoon Senior Citizens. Dorothy enjoyed sewing, cooking and especially enjoyed baking pies to be served at the Broad Street Café. She also enjoyed playing numbers and the Lottery.

She was the widow of Francis Purcell who died in 2002. She was the devoted mother of Nancy Komara (John) of Greenfield Center, Colleen F. Coloney (Terry) of Waterford and the late Sharon Anne Purcell. She is sister of Anne Rosenburger of Raleigh, NC, the late Marion LaVoie and Joan Heslin. She is the proud grandmother of Brett Rokjer (Vanessa), Kellie Rokjer, Carolynn Coloney and Terry Coloney II and great grandmother of Aimee Coloney. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

A Memorial service will be held on Thursday at 7 p.m. at Philip J. Brendese Funeral Home, 133 Broad St., Waterford.

Relatives and family may visit at the funeral home on Thursday from 4 to 7 pm, prior to the service.
