Obituary for William R. Morris

ALBANY The world and his loving family and friends lost a wonderful husband and father, beloved sibling and go to guy for family and friends when Bill Morris went to heaven on March 21, 2023 at 87 years of age.

Born in Troy, NY on July 17, 1935 to Robert and Beatrice Morris, Bill lived and went to school there with his brother and sisters. He was employed by AT&T as a technical instructor and continued to live in the Capital District almost all his life, including becoming a Florida snowbird as he enjoyed driving his RV with the love of his life, Rosalie. He and his loving wife Rosalie Valentine met at Guptill’s Roller Skating Arena when Bill was 21 and Rosalie was 18. Bill and Rosalie were married for 66 years. They were "made for each other," and were blessed with 5 children, 8 grandchildren, and so far, 5 great-grandchildren.

Bill always treated others the right way, was a fastidious law-abider, and taught that to his kids. He was strongly protective of his family, was a good neighbor and was always handy, skills he passed down to his children. He lived his whole life as the “shirt off your back” giver, full of boundless energy, enthusiasm, advice and good nature.

Bill had many hobbies he enjoyed including electronics, banjos, guitars, and sailboats, including belonging to the Sailing Club at Crossings Park. Over the decades, he actively encouraged his children and grandchildren to learn and was a role model to many. He always encouraged his kids and grandkids to learn and love music.

So many people will feel this loss deeply, especially his wife Rosalie, their children Rick Morris (Tessie), Cheryl Morris Byrne, Tom Morris (Patty), Tim Morris (Lisa), and Jennifer Morris Spretty (Joe), Brother Jim Morris, sisters Barbara Morris, Deborah White, and all their extended family. He is also pre-deceased by his sisters Arlene Lewis and Marilyn Miller.

Funeral services will be Monday March 27, 2023 at 10 am at Philip J. Brendese Funeral Home, 133 Broad St., (Rte. 32), Waterford. Interment will be in Memory Garden’s, Colonie.

Relatives and friends may visit at the funeral home on Sunday March 26 from 2-5 pm.
