Obituary for Wesley I. Hutchins Jr.

LATHAM Wesley I. Hutchins Jr., 83, of Jeanne Jugan Way died Saturday November 24, 2018 at Stratton Veterans Memorial Hospital. Born in Albany he was the son of the late Wesley I. Hutchins Sr. and Esther Brochum Hutchins.

Wesley was a career serviceman having served during the Korean War and Viet Nam War as a US Marine and then did several tours of duty in Viet Nam with the US Airforce from which he retired. After his retirement from the Air Force he worked in the Security field in several hospitals and business in both Pennsylvania and New York.

Wesley was a great conversationalist. His motto was “God, Family, Country” and of course “Once a Marine always a Marine”.

He was the husband of the late Mary Elizabeth Mobley Hutchins who died in 2013. He is survived by his children, David Hutchins (Susan) of Syracuse and Julie Galka of Gloversville. He is the proud grandfather of Bradley Galka of Kansas and Jenna Galka of NYC. He is the brother of Constance Bender of Albany and step-brother of Arletta Finger of Halfmoon, Paula Johnson (Willis) of Tulsa, OK, Richard Hutchins (Ann) of Valley Falls. In addition to his parents he is also predeceased by his step-mother Pauline Brendese and brothers Clark Hutchins Sr. and Michael Hutchins.

A Memorial Service will be held Friday at 10 am at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 63 Mountain View Ave. in Albany. Entombment will follow at Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.

Relatives and friends may visit with his family at the church prior to the memorial service from 9:15 - 10 am.
