Obituary for Vladimir D. Mukan

Vladimir Mukan, 70, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 26, 2022 at home in the diligent care of his wife. Born in Elban, Russia on October 25, 1951, he immigrated to the United States in 1999 and lived in Latham for the past fifteen years together with his wife Vera Mukan. Vladimir is survived by his three loving children, Zhanna and her son Phillip, of St. Petersburg, Russia, Irina and husband Chris, of Hewitt, New Jersey, and Dmitriy and wife Darya, of Guilderland, NY.

Vladimir was a lifelong musician and played many instruments including the baritone, trumpet, and piano. He was a member of the Russian jazz group “Rezonans” and was also a part of the Yankee Doodle marching band of Rensselaer, NY. Vladimir served in both the Soviet and Russian army as a music composer. In his free time, Vladimir would spend most of his days playing sudoku, connecting with his old friends from Russia, and spending quality time with his family.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the many caring health professionals that helped them care for dad over the past several weeks.

Relatives and friends may visit with his family on Thursday evening from 6 – 9 pm at First Slavic Pentecostal Evangelic Church. 583 Boght Rd, Cohoes. A graveside committal service will be held on Friday at 11 am at Waterford Rural Cemetery.
