Obituary for Viola A. Cuerdon (Winne)

WATERFORD Viola A. Cuerdon, 94, of Broad St. died peacefully after months of declining health on Wednesday January 23, 2019 at her residence. Viola was, “born on Broad St. and died on Broad St.” She was the daughter of the late Graudis J. Winne Sr. and Elleen Danis Winne.

Viola is a communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Waterford and is a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, Empire State Chapter #98. She is a memorial member of the Fourth Division US Marine Corps and is a past member of both St. Mary’s Mother’s Club and Camps Women’s Bowling League.

Viola was the widow of Edward W. Cuerdon who died in 1991. She is the loving mother of Nancy A. Lippie (Thomas) of Amsterdam, Edward J. Cuerdon (Gail) of Schuylerville, William J. Cuerdon (Lisa Stoler) of Loudonville and Michael P. Cuerdon (Christine) of Waterford. She is the proud grandmother of James and Edward Lippie, Laura Block and Thomas Lippie Jr., Jeff Tollison and Dawn Alexanian, Violet and Sarah Cuerdon. 7 Great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. She is predeceased by her siblings, Mary Bertrand and Graudis Winne Jr.

Funeral services will be Monday at 9 am from the Philip J. Brendese Funeral Home, 133 Broad St. (Rte. 32), Waterford and at 9:30 am at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Waterford. Interment will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Waterford.

Relatives and friends may visit at the funeral home on Sunday from 2-5 pm.
