Obituary for Theodore C. "Ted" Taylor
WATERFORD Theodore C. Taylor, 84, of Mockingbird Ct. passed away Tuesday, March 14, 2023 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Cohoes he was the son of the late Charles S. and Lillian Girard Taylor. He was a 1956 graduate of Christian Brothers Academy in Albany and received his Bachelor’s Degree from Plattsburg State College.
Ted was employed for 28 years at the General Electric Co. in Waterford and co-owned and operated Specialty Silicone Products in Ballston Spa. He was a veteran of the US Marine Corps. He was a former member of the American Legion Charles J. Brady Post, Cohoes-Waterford Lodge of Elks, Waterford Knights of Columbus and Waterford Lions Club and J.W. Ford Hose Co. He was a communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Waterford and was a lector there. He had been active in the Meals on Wheels Program in Waterford, was a former member of the Waterford Water Commissioners and had served as a Councilman for the Town of Waterford.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years Linda Doring Taylor, his children, Megan Hennessey of Saratoga, Maribeth Taylor of Waterford, Ellen Scarchilli (Bernie) of Mechanicville, Kristin Taylor of Clifton Park and Matthew Taylor of Eliot, ME. He is the brother of C. Winston Taylor (Anne) of Broomall, PA, Mary Ellen Murray (John) of Waterford and Elizabeth Mowry (Ron) of Elliott City, MD. He is the proud grandfather of Andrew and Kyle Hennessey, Olivia Scarchilli, Joren, Jacob, Calla and Mabel Taylor. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be at 9:30 am Tuesday, March 21, 2023 from the Philip J. Brendese Funeral Home, 133 Broad St. (Rte.32), Waterford and at 10 am at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Waterford. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Waterford.
Relatives and friends may visit at the funeral home on Monday from 4-7 pm.
