Obituary for Shirley A. Doud (Burns)
WATERFORD Shirley A. Doud, 89, of 2nd St. entered into eternal life Sunday, Jan. 17, 2021 at Samaritan Hospital as a result of complications from Covid 19 virus.
Born in Troy, she was the daughter of the late John “Sonny” Burns and Josephine Thompson Burns. She graduated from CCHS in 1949 and went on to work for the NYS Workman’s Comp Board in Menands. In 1956 she married her husband, James “Buddy” Doud and together they lived and raised their family in Waterford until Buddy’s passing in 2009.
Shirley is survived by her beloved children, Marcia A. Nickels of Waterford, Stephen G. Doud (Terrence) of Troy and Gregory L. Doud (Bridget) of Illinois. She is the sister of John Burns of The Villages, FL and the late Joan Corbett. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her feline companion “Whitie”
A graveside committal service will be held Wednesday January 27 at 1:45 pm at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Middletown Rd., Waterford.
