WATERFORD Shirley A. Doud, 89, of 2nd St. entered into eternal life Sunday, Jan. 17, 2021 at Samaritan Hospital as a result of complications from Covid 19 virus.

Born in Troy, she was the daughter of the late John “Sonny” Burns and Josephine Thompson Burns. She graduated from CCHS in 1949 and went on to work for the NYS Workman’s Comp Board in Menands. In 1956 she married her husband, James “Buddy” Doud and together they lived and raised their family in Waterford until Buddy’s passing in 2009.

Shirley is survived by her beloved children, Marcia A. Nickels of Waterford, Stephen G. Doud (Terrence) of Troy and Gregory L. Doud (Bridget) of Illinois. She is the sister of John Burns of The Villages, FL and the late Joan Corbett. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her feline companion “Whitie”

A graveside committal service will be held Wednesday January 27 at 1:45 pm at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Middletown Rd., Waterford.

Special thanks are extended to Dr. Satik Amirbekian for the compassionate care provided to Shirley over the years.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1 Penny Lane, Latham, NY 12110.

I remember the Douds, Bud and Shirley from my time working at the Troy Times Record Newspaper and my time living in Waterford. I wish I could attend the funeral, but for the past 32 years I have lived in Sydney, Australia. Condolences to family and friends. May they both Rest In Peace. Larry and Maureen Powers

Kathy, Thank you for such kind words. My Mom will be missed greatly and Marcia, I and Greg will also remember all the picnics and celebrations by the river with the entire family.
