She also left behind her sister Sandra Hilt, her brothers Ron Onyon, Joe Onyon (Rae), John Onyon (Maureen) and Bruce Onyon and many nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends including her lifelong friends and caretakers Joanne Hunziker and Henry Rose. Sharon was predeceased by her sister Sheila (John) Pedonie, brother Edward Onyon Jr .and brother-in-law Kenneth Hilt. She also leaves behind her canine companion Scooch, feline friend Kitters, and two parakeets, Penny, and Fred.
Born in Latham, NY she was the daughter of the late Edward Sr. and Anne Tezbir Onyon. Sharon resided in Green Island with her husband until moving to Waterford in 1989. She worked for two decades at CDPHP as a claims adjuster, and retired in the late 90’s. After retiring, she enjoyed the outdoors with her husband Jack and taking long rides where they never got lost. She loved a good game of bingo, playing cards, going to lunch with friends, and being close to family. After the death of her husband, she moved to North Carolina where she was able to spend more time with her grandchildren. She loved to watch Kennedy sing at choir concerts, and cheer for Declan while he played lacrosse. Sharon was always socializing and making friends on the sidelines and in the stands with the rest of the lacrosse families.
Sharon was a loving wife, a wonderful mom, and the best grandmother. She was crazy, silly, and fun; she was always at the center of attention and liked it that way. She loved laughing, dancing, and singing no matter where she was. Sharon was a generous soul and would do anything for anyone. She was a caregiver, a friend and had a once in a lifetime personality. Her friendship was a gift, and many say they were fortunate to have known her.
Sharon’s wishes were to not have services, but for her and Jack’s ashes
to be spread at Paradox Lake in the Adirondacks where they had a camp for many years.
The family has requested that contributions in memory of Sharon be made to Community Hospice of Rensselaer County, 295 Valley View Blvd., Rensselaer, NY 12144
