Obituary for Sandra F. Swasey (Harley)

CLIFTON PARK Sandra F. Swasey, 86, of Sparrowhawk Circle and a longtime Waterford resident passed away Monday December 7, 2020 at Heritage House in Troy. Born in Troy she was the daughter of the late Lewis and Mae Glasheen Harley. She was a 1952 graduate of Catholic Central High School.

Sandy was retired from Rolfe Industries in Clifton Park. Prior to that she worked for many years at the Cluett & Peabody Co. She was a communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Waterford and was active in St. Mary’s School Mother’s Club when her children were students there. She enjoyed her home and time spent with her family.

She was the widow of John W. Swasey who died in 2012. She is the devoted mother of Sharon A. Nosal (David), Sheila M. Rubino (Michael) and Stephen Swasey (Kimberly) all of Waterford. She is the sister of Mary Lou Goyer (Robert), Robert Harley of Troy, Lawrence Harley of Speigletown and the late Lewis Harley. Sandy was the proud grandmother of Brian Nosal (Melissa), Brandon Nosal, Alyssa Sager (Christopher) Michael Rubino, Rick Kennedy and Ian Kennedy (Allison) and great grandmother of Landon, Reese, Ruby, Addison, Kennedy, Charlotte and Hazel. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be Friday at 11 am from the Philip J. Brendese Funeral Home, 133 Broad St. (Rte.32), Waterford and at 11:30 am at St. Mary of the Assumption Church. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Waterford.

Relatives are invited to visit at the funeral home on Friday from 9-11 am prior to the funeral.

As per pandemic regulations, mask will be required, social distancing and occupancy limitations observed.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the 2nd floor staff of Eddy Heritage House for the exceptional care given to Sandy during her stay. They are a wonderful group of caregivers who treat everyone like family. A sincere thank you to Lauren of Community Hospice for the support given to Sandy and her family in her final days.
