Obituary for Sandra A. Banaszewski (Lajeunesse)
WATERFORD Sandra A. Banaszewski, 76, of 6th St. entered into rest Thursday June 23, 2022 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Born in Troy she was the daughter of the late Louis and Evelyn Vogel Lajeunesse. She grew up in Waterford and graduated from Waterford Halfmoon High School.
Sandy worked at various jobs including New York Telephone Co. and at the Siena College ROTC Unit.
Sandy leaves behind her loving husband of 53 years, James J. Banaszewski and her son Craig Banaszewski of California. She is the sister of Martin Lajeunesse (Rosemary), Louis Lajeunesse (Debbie), Joan Skiff (Harold) and the late Robert Lajeunesse (late Sophie). Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Sandy enjoyed their winter home in Florida and yearly summer vacations at Lake George with family and friends. Sandy loved the Lord and practiced her faith in a loving manner. She was active in the churches she attended and always cared about those in need. Sandy’s compassion for others had no bounds. She will fondly be remembered by all those who knew her.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 9 a.m. from the Philip J. Brendese Funeral Home, 133 Broad St. (Rte. 32), Waterford and at 10:30 am at Ballston Center Church, 58 Charlton Rd., Ballston Spa, NY 12020. Interment will be in Waterford Rural Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may visit at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4-7 pm.
Those who wish may make memorial contributions to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
