TROY – Patricia M. Degnan MacNary passed away Wednesday March 30th, 2022 after a long, courageous battle with a complicated illness. Heaven now has a new angel.
Born in Waterford, NY, she was the oldest of eight children born to Richard and Shirley (Roberts) Degnan and the loving and devoted wife of Kenneth L. MacNary. They were married 39 years and Patty would tell you she was the most ‘blessed’ woman for having “Mac” as her loving spouse for all these years.
She was a 1965 graduate of Keveny Memorial Academy High School. During her business career she started at Garden Way Mfg. Co then went to RPI for a number of years and finished her career at The Ayco Co. which she eventually retired from. During her Ayco tenure she cultivated strong bonds of friendship that carried right into her retirement. She often would meet her work friends for lunch or dinner as if she never left! She loved retirement with Kenny and also enjoyed family gatherings, Lake George boating, traveling, and spending time together with her three devoted children. Patty truly enjoyed a simple life filled with love and peace and always, always put her family first. Patty was one in a million – she loved people and took a genuine interest in your life no matter what the story was!
She was the loving mother of Colleen Robbins and husband Liam, Christin Keating and husband John and her sweet baby boy Jimmy MacNary and wife Aimee. She was the step-mother to Christine Whalen and husband Walter and Kenneth R. MacNary.
She had six grandchildren starting with Kaitlyn (Michael) Rimkunas whom she always called her precious grandchild and was like her second mother! And then came her all-time buddy and first born grandson Jake MacNary who was the other apple of her eye! She was so happy to have wonderful step-grandchildren Kayle and Alexis Whalen and Mekennah and Jack MacNary. Then came her great grandchildren Bryce and Camden and her newest, loving addition William M. Rimkunas!!
Patty leaves behind her mother Shirley. It’s hard to describe how Patty felt about Mom – she thought of her as an actual saint which always made all of us laugh and roll our eyes!! She would say ‘what are you laughing at’?? She loved her brothers and sisters more than anything! She often would say I couldn’t even breathe without my sisters and brothers! She left behind Nancy Harder and Fred, Kathleen Wiley and Tim, Richard Degnan and Arlyce, Michael Degnan and Jonina, Eileen Tremblay and John, Susan Minahan (Susan’s husband Billy passed away two years ago) and Jerry Degnan and Kerry. Patty would read this part of the story and say, “this is absolutely fabulous”!!! She also is survived by several nieces and nephews.
There will be no calling hours. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, April 4th @ 12:00 noon at St. Augustine’s Church, 4th Ave. Troy, NY. Rather than send flowers please feel free to make a donation to The Schaghticoke Food Pantry in Patty MacNary’s name. She would really love that gesture.
