Obituary for Marion R. Lambertsen (Smith)

TROY Marion R. Lambertsen, 90, of Brunswick passed away peacefully Monday April 24, 2023 at Eddy Memorial Health Care Center. Born in Waterford, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Helen Clark Smith. She was a 1950 graduate of Waterford High School and also a graduate of Russell Sage College.

Marion had been employed for 29 years by the Cohoes City School District as a Physical Education teacher and retired in 1988. In her retirement she worked part time at Diamond Springwater Co. She was a member of the Living Hope United Methodist Church and of NYS United Teachers (NYSUT). She was an active member of Cohoes Community Center and an avid bowler. She was a member of the Red Hats and traveled with them throughout the world. Other memberships include the Waterford Women’s Study Club, Hoosick Milne Home Bureau and ABC Gym. She had received an award for the most visits to Curves Health and Fitness Club.

She is predeceased by her husband George Lambertsen, Jr. who died in 1968. She is survived by her daughter Sandra Wimmer, who was the light of her life, and (Mark), who was like a son to her. She is the proud grandmother of Alison Wimmer. She is also predeceased by her son George Lambertsen III and longtime companion Harry Dahl. She is the sister of Ralph Smith, the late Donald Smith, Evelyn LeDoux and Shirley Bush. She leaves behind many nieces (Pat) and nephews, Sandra’s friends (Jen) and her coffee crew, all of whom brought her great joy.

Funeral services will be Sunday April 30, 2023 at 3 pm at Philip J. Brendese Funeral Home, 133 Broad St. (Rte.32), Waterford.

Relatives and friends may visit at the funeral home on Sunday April 30 from 1-3 pm prior to the funeral service.
