Obituary for Marilyn G. Gillespie (Fisher)

WATERFORD Marilyn G. Gillespie, 86, of Fonda Rd passed away Sunday January 10, 2021 at the Eddy Memorial Geriatric Center. Born in Cohoes she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Leona Desnoyer Fisher. She was a 1952 graduate of Waterford High School.

Marilyn had been employed at the former Boston Store in Latham and retired in 1992. She was a member of the OC Ski Club in Albany and in addition to skiing she enjoyed golfing, camping and especially time spent with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her loving husband of 64years Ronald C. Gillespie and devoted children Barbara J. Wagner of Schenectady, Thomas J. Gillespie (Joyce) of Halfmoon, Jennifer Gillespie (Mark Peltz) of Voorheesville and James R. Gillespie (Nancy) of Guilderland. She is the sister of Carol A. Hines (Edward) of Saratoga and the late Joyce Opitz. She was the proud grandmother of 11 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 11 am Thursday at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 119 Broad St., Waterford. Interment will follow at Gerald BH Solomon National Cemetery.

Relatives and friends may visit at the Philip J. Brendese Funeral Home, 133 Broad St. (Rte.32), Waterford on Thursday prior to the funeral from 9 – 10:30 AM.

As per pandemic regulations, masks are required, social distancing practiced and occupancy limitations observed.
