Obituary for Marie Rita Laurella (Sciutto)
WATERFORD M. Rita Laurella, 87, of Timber Dr. passed away peacefully at Ghent Rehabilitation and Nursing Center on Monday December 14, 2020. Born and educated in Hudson she was the daughter of Joseph and Constance Sciutto.
Rita was retired from the Watervliet Arsenal where she was a mail supervisor. She was a self-taught and expert seamstress, exceptional cook and baker and also enjoyed tending to her stunning flower gardens.
Rita was the cherished and beloved wife of Kenneth A. Clark.. She is the mother of Rita D’Onofrio (David Van Leuven), John Laurella (Nubia) of Hudson and Joseph Laurella (Beth) of Valatie and is step mother of Kenneth Clark Jr. of Schenectady, Dr. Thomas Clark of Lakewood, CO, Lynn Troiano (Edward) of Ballston Lake and Nancy Gonzalez (Raul) of Waverly, GA. She is the sister of Joseph Sciutto (Connie) of Saugerties and is the proud grandmother of BreeLaurella, Kevin Lehman, Rene Leham, Desirae Clark, and Elena Clark and great grandmother of Nicholas Willette and Finn Palmer. Several nieces and nephews also survive as well as her dear friend Barbara Owen. Rita was predeceased byher first husband, Ralph Laurella.
There will be no calling hours per Rita’s request. Friends and family are welcome to join in honoring Rita’s life at a committal service at Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery on Monday Dec. 21 at 1 pm.
Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Shriners Hospital for Children, 516 Carew St., Springfield, MA 01104.
