Obituary for Lucille Diane Taylor (Hebert)

SCHENECTADY Lucille Diane Taylor, née Marie Lucille Diane Hebert, passed away peacefully in her sleep on the morning of December 22nd, 2022 at Ellis Residential Center in Schenectady, NY, two months before her 93rd birthday. She is survived by her sons, Dahl Taylor (Deirdre) and Dean Taylor (Maria), and her daughter, Dawn Marie Taylor. She is predeceased by her husband, Donald J. Taylor and her daughter, Darlene Peat (Michael). She leaves three grandchildren, Ryan, AnaMaria and Kieran, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Born in the small, French farming community of Sainte-Clothilde-de-Chateauguay just north of the U.S., Canadian Border, Diane, as she was known to many, was the youngest child of Adrien & Yvonne (Coallier) Hebert. She attended business college in Montreal and worked in a cigar factory there before emigrating with her mother to the States. Diane then went on to raise her family in Waterford, NY and worked as a seamstress for many years.

Being very good with her hands, she loved knitting and made countless items for friends and family. She was an avid bowler and later, in retirement, developed a love for golf with her husband in Florida. Diane also had an abiding love of flowers and kept an impressive collection of plants and orchids; visits to flower gardens and festivals were a great and constant source of joy for her. Her true calling, however, was her family. Mom was the strength and bedrock for us and enjoyed nothing more than spending time with her children and grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday January 15, 2023 at 4 p.m. at Philip J. Brendese Funeral Home, 133 Broad St., Waterford. Interment will be in Memory Gardens, Colonie at the convenience of the family. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family at the funeral home on Sunday prior to the memorial service from 2-4 p.m.
