Obituary for Lucille M. Bertrand (Galarneau)

WATERFORD Lucille M. Bertrand, 97, formerly of Lea Ave. passed away peacefully on Sunday December 3, 2023 at the Eddy Village Green Nursing Home in Cohoes. Born in Cohoes she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Leona (Provost) Galarneau. She attended St. Joseph’s Elementary School in Cohoes was a graduate of Cohoes High School and Troy Business College.

Lucille worked as a bookkeeper for the Juliette Dress Shop in Cohoes until her marriage when she became a homemaker for her family. She enjoyed traveling, especially to the many religious shrines in Europe. She also loved going out to restaurants with family members. She was a communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Waterford.

Lucille was the widow of Raymond Bertrand Sr. who died in 2000. She is the mother of Raymond Bertrand Jr. of Halfmoon and the late Michael Bertrand. She is survived by her former daughters in law, Linda Bertrand of Saratoga Springs and Grace Bertrand of Bronx, N.Y. She is the sister of Arnold Galarneau (late Marilyn) of Cohoes and the late Frank Galarneau (late Barbara). She is the grandmother of Nicole Bertrand Post (Ben) of Denmark, Sarah Bertrand Mactal (John) of Saratoga Springs and Valerie Bertrand of North Carolina. She is the aunt of Edward & Dianne Galarneau, Robert Galarneau and James &Jayne Galarneau. 8 Great grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be Wednesday at 11 am from the Philip J. Brendese Funeral Home, 133 Broad St. (Rte.32), Waterford and at 11:30 am at St. Mary of the Assumption Church. Interment will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Waterford.

Relatives and friends may visit at the funeral home on Wednesday from 9:30 – 11 am, prior to the funeral.

Much appreciation to the staff at the following facilities for all the support and care they provided to Lucille: The Eddy Village Green Nursing Home, Albany Medical Center Hospital, St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany and to the Elderwood Village Assisted Living Facility in Latham where Lucille resided for the last two years.
