Obituary for Joyce H. Batto (Connelly)
HUDSON, FL Joyce Connelly Batto, 90, of Hudson, FL and formerly of Waterford, NY passed away peacefully Tuesday February 1, 2022 at her home with her family by her side. Born in Troy she was the daughter of the late Earl and Kathryn Scannell Connelly. She was a 1949 graduate of the Academy of the Holy Names.
Joyce had been employed for several years by the Troy Credit Bureau and later by the New York State Nurses Association from which she retired in 1996. Joyce enjoyed boating on Lake George, camping, dancing and listening to music.
She is predeceased by the “love of her life” Richard S. Batto Sr. The couple were married for 64 years having been wed at St. Mary’s Church in Waterford on June 17, 1951. She is the devoted mother of Richard S. Batto Jr. (Nancy) of Tarpon Springs, FL, Garry J. Batto Sr. of Naples, FL, Daniel G. Batto of Clifton Park and Kathleen Thornton (John) of Hudson, FL with whom she resided. She is sister to the late June Kimok and Christopher Connelly. She is the proud grandmother of 10 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11:30 am from the Philip J. Brendese Funeral Home, 133 Broad St. (Rte.32), Waterford and at noon at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Waterford. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Waterford.
Relatives and friends may visit at the funeral home on Friday prior to the funeral from 9:30 – 11:30 am.
Those who wish may make memorial contributions to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
