Obituary for Joseph A. Rougia

WATERFORD Joseph A. Rougia, 86, of Bechard Lane passed away Sunday September 11, 2022 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Cohoes he was the son of the late Joseph and Amelia Lagace Rougia.

Joe was employed by the Town of Waterford in the Highway Department for over 40 years. He was a life member and past Captain of the Kavanaugh Hook and Ladder Co. He was a member of the Saratoga Lodge of Eagles. He enjoyed working around his home and garden and loved his TV. He was a proud US Army veteran.

He is the husband of Mary Guenette Rougia who survives and the late Frances Rougia. He is the father of Karen Rougia of Cohoes and Michael Rougia of Waterford and is the step father of David White of Green Island and the late Peter White. He is the brother of Theresa Loya of Ballston Lake and Donald Rougia of Mechanicville. He is the proud grandfather of Robbie Rougia. He is the brother in law of Bob & Maggie Jackson, Richard Loya, Michael & Antoinette Guenette.

Funeral services will be Monday September 19, 2022 at 11 am from the Philip J. Brendese Funeral Home, 133 Broad St. (Rte.32), Waterford and at noon at St. Augustine’s Church in Lansingburgh. Interment with Military Honors will be in Saratoga National Cemetery.

Relatives and friends may visit at the funeral home on Monday from 9 – 11 a.m. prior to the funeral.
