Obituary for John F. Pulcher

WATERFORD John Fredrick Pulcher, 96, returned to his heavenly home during December after a valiant battle to recover from a long illness. His devotion to his family and his firm belief in Jesus supported him in his struggle and ultimately gave him peace to pass on.

He was born in Greenport, Columbia County, NY on January 17, 1924 to parents Johann Pulcher and Krescentia Marie Paul .

John was preceded in death by his 10 siblings, Theresia, Johanna, Theodore, Leo, Herman, Amelia, Walter, Cresentia, Madalene, and Paul.

John was an outstanding student who won medals in high school including the History medal and the RPI award.

At age 18, he joined the service to follow his older brothers; Leo, Herman and Ted. He was sent to Europe and Africa during WWII.

John was a pilot with the 62nd transport command group and was honorably discharged on December 31,1945.

Upon his return from the service, John married Estella Pulcher (Cicchinelli) and obtained an engineering degree in aeronautical engineering and worked as a engineer until the age of 72.

He was a communicant of Saint Mary of the Assumption Church in Waterford and most recently Saint Augustine's Church in Troy.

John enjoyed Polka dancing and outdoor activities including gardening, hiking, fishing, golf, and taking his father to the Saratoga race track. He especially loved spending time with his family.

John was finally reunited with his beloved wife, Estella Pulcher (Cicchinelli) and daughter Mary Pulcher.

Survivors include his daughters, Regina Banaszewski (Charles), Monica Pulcher; his son, John Pulcher (Ann) and several grandchildren.

A very special thank you to all his hospice nurses and caretakers. Your care and kindness to John and his family will always be remembered.

Upon John's request, his funeral service was private.
