Obituary for James Francis Griffin

HOOSICK FALLS James Francis Griffin, 83, passed away Monday March 1, 2021 at the Eddy Memorial Geriatric Center after a brief illness. Born August 8, 1937 he was the son of the late William and Anna McGrath Griffin.

James lived the majority of his life in Hoosick Falls and attended St. Mary’s School there and was an altar boy at the Immaculate Conception Church. He received his GED through the United States Armed Services Institute and was a proud veteran of the US Navy having been stationed both stateside and abroad during the Korean War. He took pride in his work ethic and attention to detail. He was employed at the former Wood Flong Corp and later at Oak Industries in Hoosick Falls. He was a long standing member of the Eagles.

He enjoyed sitting in the sunshine, cliff diving, darts, chocolate chip cookies (if they only had 3 chips) and spaghetti with his homemade meatballs.

He is survived by his children, Diane Bull (Robert) of Waterford, Joseph Griffin (Tina) of Pittstown, Susan Griffin Burnett (Robert) of Slingerlands and Donald Griffin (Annette) of Pittstown. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren as well as multiple extended family members.

A private memorial service with military honors will be held at the convenience of the family.

The family would like to thank the Albany VA Hospital, The Eddy and Hospice for their care and special thanks to the staff of The Danforth where he lived the last years.
