BRUNSWICK Helena M. Daus, 86, of North Lake Ave. passed away Thursday April 8, 2021 at her home. Born in Whitehall she was the daughter of the late William and Katherine Taft Whalen.
Helena was a medical secretary at Troy Internal Medicine for 12 years and retired in 2012. She also was a long time medical assistant to the late Dr. William Murray and also was employed by Questar and the late Dr. Sang Moon Kim. She was a member of the American Association of Medical Assistants. She enjoyed trips to the Thousand Islands with her family and in her spare time she was an avid reader.
Helena was the widow of Robert T. Daus Sr. and is the mother of Patricia A. Castiglione of Cropseyville and Robert T. Daus Jr. of Troy. She is the sister of Kathleen Taylor (Robert) of Granville, Robert Whalen (Diana) of Schuylerville, the late William Whalen, Agnes Esmond, John Whalen and Linda Veiga. She is the proud grandmother of Jennifer Hasbrouck (Skip) and Mark Castiglione Jr. (Casey Brinkman) as well as 7 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive as well as her canine grandchildren, Capone, Eddy and Amber.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 8:45 am from the Philip J. Brendese Funeral Home, 133 Broad St. (Rte.32), Waterford and at 9:30 am at Our Lady of Victory Church in Troy. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Troy.
Relatives and friends may visit at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4-7 pm.
