Obituary for Gloria J. Wilcox (Maynard)

WATERFORD Gloria J. Wilcox, 73, went peacefully to be with the lord on Wednesday, December 14th after a brief illness. Gloria was born in Troy, New York on September 19th 1949. She was the daughter of the late Byron Maynard and Margaret Jones, of South Troy. Gloria enjoyed attending concerts at Powers Park with her family and friends, getting coffee and lunch at Don and Paul’s coffee shop, and visiting the Troy Senior Center. She loved the color red, and was referred to as “The Woman in Red.” She could often be found at the casino, one of her favorite places to go. She frequented River’s Casino, but also enjoyed going to the Saratoga Racino and Turningstone. Gloria had a hunk of burning love for Elvis. She loved listening to his music, and going to see Donnie Elvis every chance she got.

Gloria was predeceased by her sister Geneva, and her brothers Jerry, David and Doug. She was also predeceased by her grandson, Earl Wilcox. Gloria is survived by sisters Bernice Obzud and Avis Bechand (George). She is also survived by her eight children whom she loved dearly; Pauline Williams (Dave), Ronnie Wilcox (Mary Hathaway), Austin Wilcox (Sue), Charlie Wilcox (Tina), Linda Wilcox (Michael Zareski), Tina Wilcox and her husband Michael Diotte, Paul Wilcox (Lisa Rock) and Sara Cameron (Todd). She was also survived by many grandchildren as well as great-grandchildren. Gloria is also survived by her dear friends Alec and Rose as well as her beloved cat, Floby, who she nicknamed “flashlight.”

Family and friends are invited to call from 4:00pm to 7:00pm on Thursday December 29, 2022 at Philip J. Brendese Funeral Home, located at 133 Broad St, Waterford, NY 12188. A service will be conducted by her grandson, Robert Bull, at 7:00PM.
