Obituary for Gerald T. Brown
SCHAGHTICOKE Gerald T. Brown, 71, of Verbeck Ave. died Tuesday May 5, 2020 at Samaritan Hospital. A Waterford native he was the son of the late Philip and Anna Bella Remington Brown. He was a graduate of Waterford-Halfmoon High School.
Gerald had worked in the construction field for most of his life. He also was a beekeeper and farmer. A veteran of the US Marine Corps he was a Machine Gunner serving in the Vietnam War and achieved the rank of Lance Corporal. He is a Purple Heart recipient. He was a member of Rye Bread in Waterford and was an avid hunter,enjoyed spending time with his family and was an outdoor enthusiast enjoying both water skiing and snow skiing.
He is the devoted father of Daniel Brown (Kerrie) of Schaghticoke, Melanie Brown of Albany and Wendy Brown of Troy. He is the brother of Linda Butchino of Ballston Spa, Susan Monahan of Michigan, William Brown of Cambridge, Richard Brown of Greenwich, Walter Brown of Cambridge and Robert Brown of Valley Falls. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews and his canine companion and best buddy Bentley Thomas Brown.
Due to the current pandemic, funeral services will be private and interment will be in Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery. Military honors will be held at a later date.
