Obituary for George F. Robert
WATERFORD George F. Robert, 85, of Birch Glen Drive passed away peacefully Tuesday December 15, 2020 at Samaritan Hospital. Born in Canada he was the son of the late Jean Baptiste Robert and Maxima Sorel Robert Hubert. He came to this country as a young boy and settled in Lansingburgh.
George was employed for 30 years at the Ford Motor Co. in Green Island and retired in 1988. He was a member of the United Autoworkers Union. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force.
George was a life member and past Treasurer of the Knights of Columbus Post 237 in Waterford. He was a volunteer fireman with the Center Brunswick Fire Department while a resident there. While raising his children he was a scout leader and an umpire for his daughter’s softball league.
He enjoyed car racing and making model ships, especially tall ships.
George was the devoted husband of the late Ruth Dunham Robert who died in 2016. He is the loving father of Ginette Kirkpatrick (Geoffrey) of Waterford, John Robert (Terri) of Melrose and Kevin Robert of Waterford. He is the brother of Claude Robert of Oregon and proud grandfather of Courtney, Alexandra and Emily Robert, Sara Kirkpatrick, Lauren Ross and Chloe Robert and great grandfather of Noah Shaughnessy.
Private committal services with Military Honors will be held at Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated in the Spring of 2021.
