Obituary for George L. Fredette Jr.

WATERFORD George L. Fredette Jr., 88, of Davis Ave. passed away peacefully Wednesday February 3, 2021 at Samaritan Hospital. Born in Waterford he was the son of the late George L. Fredette Sr. and Mabel Baron Fredette. He attended Keveny Memorial Academy in Cohoes.

With his brother William, George operated Fredette Brothers Painting Co. for many years. He was a veteran of the US Navy and served during the Korean War. He was a former member of the Cohoes-Waterford Lodge of Elks. He was an avid golfer. He had a swimming pool in his yard and over the years taught dozens of children how to swim including his children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews and neighborhood kids.

He is the husband of the late Carol A. Broderick Fredette who died in 2018 and father of George “Larry” Fredette III (Colleen) of North Conway, NH, James J. Fredette of Malta and the late Michael C. Fredette. He is the brother of William Fredette (Shirley) and John Fredette of Waterford the late Mary Clark and Joyce Dereski. He is the proud grandfather of Nicole Marie Boyer of Wilmington, MA and Lauren M. Carrier of Londonderry, NH and great grandfather of Ellie M. Boyer and Jackson T Carrier. Many nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be Monday at 9:30 am at Philip J. Brendese Funeral Home, 133 Broad St. (Rte.32), Waterford. Interment will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Waterford.

Relatives and friends may visit at the funeral home on Sunday from 2-5 pm.

As per pandemic regulations, masks are required, social distancing practiced and occupancy limitations observed.
