COHOES Donald P. Pier Sr., 78, of Cedar St. passed away Monday March 13, 2023 surrounded by his loving family at Albany Medical Center. Born in Canada he was the son of the late Armand and Margaret Guilbeault Pier. He came to this country as a young boy and settled in Cohoes. He then moved to Maine for a brief period before returning to Cohoes.

Donald was employed at the former Bendix Corp in Green Island for 27 years and had retired due to disability. After his retirement he had operated D & S Used Furniture in Cohoes. He was a veteran of the US Army and a member of the Veterans of Lansingburgh and the American Legion Post 476 in Cohoes. A car enthusiast he enjoyed restoring older cars.

Survivors include his devoted wife Sheila Jones Pier and his loving children, Sean Pier (Diana) of Cohoes and Donald Pier Jr. of Troy. He is the proud grandfather of Alyssa Pier and Donald Pier III. He is also survived by 3 siblings and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 11 am at Philip J. Brendese Funeral Home, 133 Broad St. (Rte. 32), Waterford. Interment with military honors will follow at Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.

Relatives and friends may visit at the funeral home on Thursday from 10 – 11 am prior to the funeral service.
