WATERFORD Dennis A. Schoonmaker, 64, formerly of Waterford passed away Monday October 10, 2022 at Waccamaw Hospital in South Carolina. Born in Cohoes he was the son of the late Wardell A. and Theresa A. Green Schoonmaker. He was a 1977 graduate of Waterford Halfmoon High School.
Dennis had been employed for 32 years at Momentive in Waterford, formerly GE Silicones and retired in 2018. He was a member of IUE-CWA Local 81359. Most of his life Dennis served the Town of Waterford in many volunteer organizations. He was a past Captain of the Waterford Rescue Squad, past Captain and Safety Officer at Knickerbocker Steamer Co., past Officer and inactive member of the Tri-State Emergency Team (Waterford Emergency Team), and was a member of the Saratoga County Advisory and Response Team for Hazmat.
He is the brother Richard Schoonmaker (Mary) of Myrtle Beach and the late Wardell A. (Butch) Schoonmaker III. His sister in law Liz Schoonmaker and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 9 am from the Philip J. Brendese Funeral Home, 133 Broad St. (Rte.32), Waterford and at 9:30 am at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Waterford. Interment will be in Waterford Rural Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may visit at the funeral home on Friday from 4-7 pm.
