Obituary for Deborah J. Donnelly (Tietjen)
CLIFTON PARK Deborah Jean Tietjen Donnelly, 67, of Cambridge Court, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Tuesday, September 20, 2022. Born and raised in Hicksville, New York, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Dorothy (Toner) Tietjen. She was a 1972 graduate of Hicksville High School, and went off to attend St. Clare's Nursing School in Manhattan where she met the love of her life, her husband, Bill. The “Donnelly Gang” moved to the area in 1986, where Debbie led the way of raising her family, which was quite the adventure. The memories and stories of this time are still told around the kitchen table today. Debbie was employed for 20 years by the New York State Thruway Authority, retiring in 2019.
She will be lovingly remembered by her devoted husband of 47 years, and gambling partner, Bill Donnelly. Her five children; Erin Hine (Shawn), Bill Donnelly (Kelly), Shaun Donnelly (Nicole), Keith Donnelly (Kristen), and Katie Pipino (Nathan) will continue to adore her until the end of time. Her most favorite title of all, Grandma, will continue to be cherished by her “babies”, her grandchildren; Jackson, Molly, Hayden, William, Alexis, Shaun, Kaitlyn, Madi, Grace, Joe, and Norah. She is also survived by her six siblings; Gene, Joan, Anne, Keith, Timmy, and Jackie, along with their spouses, who created this large and loving family, including her numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be Saturday, September 24 at 9:15 A.M. from the Philip J. Brendese Funeral Home, 133 Broad Street (Rt. 32) Waterford, and at 10:00 A.M. at St. Mary’s Church, Crescent. Entombment will follow in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit the funeral home on Friday September 23 from 11:00 A.M.-2:00 P.M., and from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. to celebrate the center of our family. The most fun, witty, and kind woman we will ever know, Debbie Donnelly.
