Obituary for David R. Riberdy

HALFMOON David R. Riberdy, 77, of Button Rd., passed away peacefully Tuesday, September 20, 2022 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Cohoes, Dave was the son of the late Henry and Alice Dziarck Riberdy. He grew up on the family farm where he discovered his passion for working with his hands to fix and repair things. He graduated from Shenendehowa High School in 1963 and went on to own and operate Riberdy Diesel Service which he established in 1976. Prior to that he was employed at Crumps Diesel. He was a member of the NRA and an honorary member of the Halfmoon-Waterford Fire Department. He was an avid bowler and animal lover. He also enjoyed gardening and was a member of the FFA. Dave had a passion for music, loved reading, pinball as well as horseshoes.

Dave is survived by his wife Arletta Finger Riberdy; by his children, Joann Savage (Steve) of Ballston Lake, Pamela Riberdy of Latham, Brian Riberdy (Donna) of Waterford and Angela Riberdy (Tom Schnautz) of Cumming, Georgia. He is the brother of Teresa Pete (Rick) of Vermont and the late Henry, Frank, and Leo Riberdy, Jane Riley and Marjorie Gregoire. He is the proud grandfather of Justin, Adam, Nicole, Tyler and Samantha. He is also survived by 6 great grandchildren, his sister-in-law, Margaret Riberdy as well as several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the Philip J. Brendese Funeral Home, 133 Broad St., Waterford. Interment will follow in St Joseph’s Cemetery, Waterford.

Relatives and friends may visit at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4-7 p.m.
