MALTA Carolyn R. Gottfried, 77, of Malta and formerly of Waterford died Saturday November 10, 2018 at Saratoga Hospital. Born in Troy she was the daughter of the late William Favreau and Ruth Parker Cerroni. She grew up in her much loved Waterford and was a graduate of Catholic Central High School.

Carol worked for 10 years at Troy New Channels. She worked in Community Relations at Seton Health and was an Editorial Secretary for a magazine in San Diego as well as working as Executive Assistant for AXA Advisors in Clifton Park.

While a resident of Waterford she was a communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Church and a member of the church choir. She had resided in California for a number of years and accumulated almost 300 volunteer hours at the San Diego County Animal Shelter.

She is survived by her son James J. Cipkowski of Lexington, KY, her brothers Retired Assistant Fire Chief Robert Schlesinger (Betty) of Troy and David Schlesinger (Puchong) of Korea. She is also survived by 4 grandchildren, her step sister Audrey Stewart of Troy, a niece, Harmony Fitzgerald and her family and several dear cousins and friends as well as her best friend and fiancé Raymond “Pat” Rysedorph.

Funeral from the Philip J. Brendese Funeral Home, 133 Broad St. (Rte.32), Waterford on Wednesday at 9 am and at 9:30 am at St. Mary of the Assumption Church. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Waterford.

Relatives and friends may visit at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4-7 pm.
