Obituary for Carol Ann Fredette (Broderick)

WATERFORD Carol A. Fredette, 80, of Davis Ave. died Tuesday October 15, 2018 at Samaritan Hospital. Born in Troy she was the daughter of the late John and Elsie Kelly Broderick. She was a 1956 graduate of Catholic Central High School.

In her earlier years Carol was employed at Cluett & Peabody in Troy and then in the family business Fredette Brothers in Troy. When her kids were grown Carol went to work for Ursula of Switzerland where she ended up being one of their top sellers.

She loved spending time with friends and family. She was always helping anyone, anytime and in any way she could. She was smart, confident, determined and not afraid to speak her mind. She was an avid baker and a fantastic cook as well. She thought nothing of preparing huge meals for family, especially during the holidays. She also enjoyed watching the Giants on Sundays with her family as well as word games and crossword puzzles. The more challenging the puzzle, the better.

She married the love of her life, George L. Fredette Sr. on October 4th 1958 and they recently celebrated 60 years of marriage.

In addition to her husband she is survived by her children George L. Fredette Jr. (Colleen) of Conway, NH, James J. Fredette of Malta and Michael C. Fredette of Waterford. She is the sister of Catherine Nenni (Joe) of Buffalo, John Broderick (Diane) of Colonie, William Broderick (Mary) of Pittstown, Mary Malloch (Wayne) of Maine, Daniel Broderick of Troy, Deborah Rosen (Joe) of Schaghticoke, the late Jacqueline Going and Lillian Broderick. She is the proud grandmother of Nicole Boyer (Jeff) and Lauren Carrier (Joel) and great grandmother of Ellie Marie. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be Friday at 11 am at Philip J. Brendese Funeral Home, 133 Broad St. (Rte.32) Waterford. Interment will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Waterford.

Relatives and friends may visit with the family at the funeral home on Thursday from 4-7 pm.

Those who wish may make memorial contributions to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
