Obituary for Blanche F. Long

TROY Blanche Millington Long, 96 entered into eternal life on Saturday March 26, 2022 at her home surrounded by her loving family, after a long illness. Born in Manhattan she was the daughter of the late Charles F. and Emma Quinto Millington. She later moved to Troy which was her father’s hometown. She attended St. Joseph’s School, CCHS and Troy High School. She was a longtime communicant (over 60 years) of St. Augustine’s Church in Lansingburgh. She retired from the Norton Company in Watervliet after 26 years of service.

Blanche was predeceased by her beloved husband of 71 years, Thomas F. Long who was a WW II Marine veteran and is survived by her four loving children, Ellen Premo (Gary) of Waterford, Susan Casey of Waterford, Joan Shepard (Bob) of Clifton Park and Tom C. Long (Suzanne) of Averill Park. Blanche was the oldest of five children and was predeceased by brothers Charles Millington, William (Bill) Millington, sisters Joan Mele and Emma (Tootsie) Millington. Blanche loved spending time with her grandchildren, Kelly Denvir of Waterford, Gary Premo (Kelly) of East Greenbush, Michael Casey of Waterford, Brian Shepard of Clifton Park, Alicia Wilson of Watervliet, Ryan and Jack Long of Averill Park and predeceased by Peter Casey. She adored and loved spending much time with her great grandchildren: Jacob, Michael and Mason Casey, Liam and Brayden Denvir, Declan Wilson and Logan Premo. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Blanche loved talking to everyone, with her cup of coffee; she was a joy and inspiration to all who knew her. She will be sorely missed.

We want to thank Rensselaer County Hospice, St. Augustine’s Clergy and family friend Anna for providing care and comfort to our family during this journey at home.

Funeral services will be Tuesday morning at 9:15 am from the Philip J. Brendese Funeral Home, 133 Broad St. (Rt.32), Waterford and at 10 am at St Augustine’s Church in Lansingburgh. Interment will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Troy.

Relatives and friends may visit at the funeral home on Monday from 5-7 pm.
