Obituary for Barry W. Walsh
WATERFORD Barry W. Walsh, 77, of 2nd St. passed away Sunday June 26, 2022 at Samaritan Hospital. Born in Rochester he was the son of the late Walter and Norma Altemoos Walsh. He was a 1963 graduate of Irondequoit High School in Rochester and received his Bachelor’s Degree from RIT.
Barry was retired from Excellus Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Rochester where he was a Database Manager. Prior to that he worked for the Norton Co. in Watervliet. He was a veteran of the US Army
Barry was a Trustee of the Waterford Public Library, a committee member and volunteer at the Waterford Museum and Cultural Center, a member of the Waterford Village Planning Board as well as being a member of the Waterford Knights of Columbus Council 237. He enjoyed working with computers, wood working and home improvements.
He is the husband of Catherine Goodridge Walsh, father of Squirrel C. Walsh of Ewing, NJ and brother of Donna St. Peter of Granite Bay CA, Tim Walsh (Peg) of Havertown, PA and Judy Walsh of Wake Forest, NC. He was the cousin of Karen Kastner (Jim) of Crystal Lake, IL and their daughter Ava Kastner. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be Wednesday July 6, 2022 at 9 am from the Philip J. Brendese Funeral Home, 133 Broad St. (Rte. 32), Waterford and at 9:30 am at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Waterford. Interment will follow at Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may visit at the funeral home on Tuesday July 5 from 4-7 pm.
Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Waterford Historical Museum and Cultural Center, 2 Museum Lane, Waterford, NY 12188.
