COHOES Barbara Ann (Rekemeyer) Greene peacefully entered into eternal rest on Saturday April 16, 2022 with her loving family by her side. Barbara was 71 at the time of her passing. She was the daughter of the late William and Jean Rekemeyer and daughter in law of the late Rollin and Marie Greene. She was the wife of Rollin (Ron) Greene. They were married on October 21 1972, Ron’s 24th birthday, at Grace Episcopal Church in Waterford. The enjoyed 50 years together. They made their home in Cohoes. She was predeceased by her brother in law David Greene and his infant son Daniel, cousin Grace Rogers, sister in law Nancy and 5 aunts and 11 uncles.
Barbara grew up in Waterford and graduated in 1968 from Waterford-Halfmoon High School. As a senior she was the treasurer of the Student Store and was queen of her Senior Prom. Barbara worked for both the Cohoes and Boght Hill Schools as a teacher’s aide. Barbara’s true love was working as a teller for several banks and credit unions in the area, which she did for 35 years. She retired from Community Resource FCU in Latham. She had once been a lay reader at St. John’s Church in Cohoes, a Girl Scout co-leader and was a member of the American Institute of Banking.
Besides her husband she is survived by her daughter and son in law, Kelly and Corey St. Jean and their children Nathan and Emma of Ballston Lake and her son and daughter in law, Detective Sergeant Michael and Cara Greene and their children Kaelyn and Mikey of Cohoes and step grandson Brandyn Ashdown, her brother and sister in law Edward and Lori Rekemeyer, ex sister in law Hazel Greene, her 2 nieces Cortina Greene, her son Odin, Ashley and her husband Joseph Barber and two nephews, (Barbara’s Godson) Benjamin and wife Rita Rekemeyer and Geoffrey and wife Brenda Greene, his daughter Regan, 2 aunts, 6 cousins and a special friend she referred to as Sis, Barbara Austin of Cohoes.
Barbara would like to be remembered for her outspokenness, her unique humor, her juvenile tendencies and her love of Calla Lilies, all things orange, but most importantly her intense love for her 4 grandchildren.
In lieu of (orange) flowers, Barbara has asked that donations be made to the American Heart Association 440 New Karner Rd., Albany.
Funeral services will be Friday at 11am at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 405 Vliet Blvd., Cohoes. Interment will follow at Memory’s Garden, Colonie
Relatives and friends may visit with her family at the church on Friday from 10 to 11 am prior to the funeral.
