Obituary for Armand G. Caponi

WATERFORD Armand G. Caponi, 91, of Sage Rd. passed away Saturday January 22, 2022 at Van Rensselaer Manor. Born and educated in Waterford, he was the son of the late Anthony and Adelina Lombardo Caponi.

Armand was retired from the NYS Department of Transportation and had worked at the Waterford facility. Prior to that he was employed at Adirondack Steel and the Eddy Valve Co. He was a veteran of the US Army.

Armand was a member of the Waterford Bocce League, VFW Waterford Memorial Post 5800, Kavanaugh Hook & Ladder Co., the Cohoes Waterford Lodge of Elks and the former Camps Bowling League. As a family oriented person he enjoyed time spent with his grandchildren and traveling.

He was the husband of the late C. Judith Gonzalez Caponi who died last year and is the loving father of Catherine Golden of Waterford, Gene Caponi (Rebecca) of Needham, MA and Carolyn Caponi of Waterford. He is the brother of Anne DeVito of Mechanicville, the late Pasquale, John and Anthony Caponi and Lena Patregnani and is the proud grandfather of Michael and Kathryn Golden, and Emma and John Caponi and great grandfather of Kaylee and Claira Golden.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend funeral services on Friday at 11 am at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 119 Broad St., Waterford. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Waterford.
