Obituary for Arlene Carnevale (Francesconi)

WATERFORD Arlene Carnevale, 87, of South St. passed away Tuesday May 9, 2023 at Teresian House in Albany. Born in Cohoes she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Zelinda Montanari Francesconi. She was a graduate of Cohoes High School.

Arlene had been employed by the former NY Telephone Co. at their Menands facility and retired in1985. She was a longtime communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Waterford. She was a member of the Cohoes Waterford Lodge of Elks. Arlene was an enthusiastic hockey fan. She was a supporter of the New Jersey Devils, the former Albany River Rats and Connecticut Women’s Basketball. She also was a lifelong NY Giants fan.

Arlene was the widow of Domenick “Sonny” Carnevale who died in 2017. She is the sister of Diane Slater of Waterford, Leo Francesconi of Albany and the late Helen Gallo, Dennis, Ronald, Armand, Joseph and Leonard Francesconi. She and her husband were lifetime friends of the late Mary Lou and Angelo Serafino. Many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews and great grandnieces and nephews on both the Francesconi and Carnevale sides also survive.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 11 am at the Philip J. Brendese Funeral Home, 133 Broad St. (Rte.32), Waterford. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Waterford. A Memorial Mass will be held at a later date.

Relatives and friends may visit at the funeral home on Saturday from 9 – 11 am prior to the funeral.
