WATERFORD Rita E. Sunkes of Saratoga Ave. died Wednesday September 12, 2018 at St. Peter’s Hospital. Born in Cohoes she was the daughter of the late Sylvester and Elvira Cremisio and step daughter of Pierina Cremisio. She was a graduate of Waterford High School and Mildred Elly.

Rita was a communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Waterford. She especially enjoyed taking care of her family. She also enjoyed cooking, needlepoint, and knitting.

She was the widow of Richard J. Sunkes Sr. who died in 2012 and the loving mother of Richard J. Sunkes Jr. (Bernice) of Latham, Terry A. Sunkes (Joyce), David M. Sunkes (Lora) of Waterford and Nancy J. Sunkes (Lance Weinheimer) of Colonie. She is the sister of the late Lena Cremisio, Sylvester Cremisio Jr. and Richard Cremisio. Ten grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family.
